The Secret Meetings Obama Has Been Having Exposed — Guess Who He Was With

Bet you thought that when Barack Obama left the White House, you hoped that, like many former presidents, he would go into quiet retirement, maybe write a book and people would be done with him.

Ah, no such luck.

Not only does he seek to shape our viewing habits with a multi-million dollar production deal with Netflix to do shows which he hopes will “train new leaders,” he’s still seeking to have a say in the present-day leadership.

From Free Beacon:

Former President Barack Obama has been secretly holding meetings with multiple potential 2020 Democratic presidential candidates.

Obama has so far met with at least nine possible candidates at his office in the World Wildlife Fund building in Washington, D.C., Politico reports.

All the meetings were arranged quietly, without even some close advisers to the people involved being told of the conversations, in part because of how much Obama bristles at his private meetings becoming public knowledge. All have been confirmed to POLITICO by multiple people who have been briefed on the secretive sit-downs.

The meetings have been at Obama’s personal office on the third floor of the World Wildlife Fund building in D.C.’s West End neighborhood, and they show how a stream of ambitious, searching politicians are looking for guidance and support from the man who has remained the reluctant leader of the Democratic Party, eager to be involved, though not directly. He’s not making any promises of support, though, and is not expected to endorse in the 2020 race until after a nominee has emerged.

Who has he met with?

Meetings included Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D), and his former vice president, Joe Biden. Others he has met with not in his office include Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu.

The one who hasn’t been focused on much by media, but has some quiet support, is Obama’s former ‘wingman,’ former Attorney General Eric Holder, who has said he may be interested. Holder infamously had no problem with the concept of being Obama’s wingman and who was found in contempt of Congress for failing to turn over information in order to protect himself and perhaps Obama in the Fast and Furious scandal. He is now working with the National Democratic Redistricting Committee.

It may be not just getting his approval, but he also still commands the forces of the OFA which presumably would be drummed into service with the records and personel to help in the effort of whoever the choice was.

Democrats have had difficulty being able to designate a leader since Obama left the presidency and Trump came in. Their leadership in the Senate and the House has been there since the year one and sound like it. They wouldn’t even declare themselves ‘leaders.’

And the look forward to 2020 is already causing problems and splits in the party as the DNC seems to have taken a move to once again block out Bernie Sanders and the progressives, making a new rule that says candidates have to run and govern as Democrats, a rule seemingly pointed at the Independent Sanders.

Senate Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) also asked Obama to help out the beleaguered Democrats during the 2018 midterm elections with fundraising.
