Jane Fonda Apologizes For ‘Thoughtless’ Vietnam Gun Incident, But She Can’t Wipe Out This Trip Down Memory Lane

Jane Fonda is now admitting that she was “thoughtless” for sitting in a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun during the war when such a gun would be aimed at and used on Americans.

The 80-year-old actress, who earned the name “Hanoi Jane” because of her actions, said she was sorry she did it, while discussing her upcoming HBO documentary, “Jane Fonda in Five Acts.”

However, she was not sorry about going to meet with our enemies in North Vietnam during the war.

From Biz Pac Review:

“I’m proud that I went to Vietnam when I did, but what I say in the film is true: I am just so sorry that I was thoughtless enough to sit down on that gun at that time. The message that sends to the guys that were there and their families, it’s horrible for me to think about that,” she said.

With a career spanning more than five decades, Fonda looked back on her activism with few regrets noting the decision to sit where she did during that talk – on an anti-aircraft gun that just may have been used against Americans during the Vietnam War.

“Sometimes I think, ‘Oh I wish I could do it over’ because there are things I would say differently now,” she said.

Here’s a picture:

But she didn’t just ‘sit’ in the gun, she sat laughed with glee, and clapped her hands together. And she gave the Vietnamese the propaganda value of the picture that they then could torment prisoners with.

She said that the reason she went to North Vietnam was that she met with American soldiers in Paris who told her about their experiences.

“I didn’t like it that there were men in France that knew better than I did. The coin shifted. I said, ‘I feel betrayed by this country’s leadership. We’ve been lied to, and I want to do anything I can to expose that,’” she said.

But people really were not impressed with her excuses.

NRA TV just blows up her excuses with the perfect video.

And over 40 years later, her brother is carrying on her legacy, calling for ‘resistance’ to President Donald Trump and saying that his 12-year-old son Barron should be ripped from his mother’s arms and put in a cage with pedophiles.
