Here’s the List of 34 Democrats and ONE Republican Who Just Voted Against Support of ICE

The House of Representatives voted on a resolution of support for the Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), though 34 Democrats voted against the measure. But, to everyone’s shock, one Republican crossed the aisle and joined the Democrats in their attack on ICE.

The purpose was to call out the Democrats and get them on record as to who supports ICE and who doesn’t. And it was a success in revealing exactly that.

According to Daily Caller:

Members voted 244-35-133 Wednesday afternoon in favor of a resolution GOP Rep. Clay Higgins of Louisiana sponsored that both decries Democrats’ push to do away with ICE and calls for congressional support for the agency and its officials. Republicans brought the measure to the floor under an expedited procedure, known as suspension of the rules, which allowed the chamber to pass it with a two-third majority.

The majority of House Democrats — 133 — voted “present,” with the remainder split. Eighteen Democrats voted in favor the bill and 35 voted against it.

But then there was that one Republican. And who was it?

One Republican, Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan, voted with Democrats against the bill.

The Democrats voted “present” as a protest against what they insisted was just a “political stunt.”

“I’m going to vote present on it because they’ll use it politically,” Democrat Minority leader Nancy Pelosi said of the resolution.

But Rep. Steve Scalise, (R, LA), slammed the Democrats for refusing to support ICE.

“Voting present means that they’re not willing to stand up for our men and women who sacrifice their lives to keep America safe,” Scalise told Roll Call. “It’s a clear vote.”

So only 18 Democrats voted to support ICE and effectively 167 Democrats refused to support the law enforcement agency.

Democrats insisted that Republicans were just trying to paint them as soft on crime and open borders supporters.

If the shoe fits, wear it.

You can find the folks who wimped out and voted present here. Here’s the list of the 34 Democrats who weren’t shy about voting ‘no’ to support ICE:

Raul Grijalva (AZ)
Jared Huffman (CA)
Mark DeSaulnier (CA)
Eric Swalwell (CA)
Jimmy Panetta (CA)

Jimmy Gomez (CA)

So what of that one Republican?

It is probably no surprise that Amash became the lone Republican to vote against the idea of supporting our law enforcement community. Amash has made himself the Jeff Flake of the House with opposition to a lot that Trump or GOP leadership has proposed.

Just for instance, Amash is the only Republican in Washington who is already opposing Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
